Welcome back to the new year in Class 3! We have all enjoyed the start to our new topic, Africa, and in Class 3 we will be focusing on the country of Ghana. All children have come back so settled and have worked so hard already in all subjects: dividing in maths, studying Anansi stories in English and producing some beautiful art work in the style of artist Martin Bulinya (do pop into the cloakroom area to have a look if you get a minute!)
I do apologise as it seems a little late in the month to be welcoming you all back but there is reason for this.....
This term in Class 3 we are going to be trialling a new method of communication which will allow more instant access to learning updates, photographs of our learning and communication of any school or class notices. This is through an online platform, Class Dojo, available through a website or APP. We are always looking for ways to improve communication between school and home and we recognise how important it is for you all to feel part of what's going on in school. All the information you need will be coming home in bags tomorrow so please keep a look out and sign up as soon as possible.

Merry Christmas!
Our Victorian Christmas Day on Monday was the perfect start to this Christmas week. It allowed children to really understand where many of our Christmas traditions began. I was so impressed with how fantastic all the children looked (thank you for supporting with costumes!), it really added to the wonderful feel of the day.
We made many decorations to dress the Christmas trees. We used tinfoil to make hanging decorations, made traditional cornucopias to hang treats on the trees, used dried fruits, nuts (the pretend type!) and cinnamon sticks to make garlands and also made some very popular, traditional paper chains!
What do you think of the finished tress?!
We enjoyed cooking some traditional treats, mince pies and sugared plums.
We tried out some traditional Christmas crafts: decorated felt table mats, made napkin rings, peg decorations, Christmas cards and even marbled our own wrapping paper just like they did in Victorian times.
We enjoyed many traditional games that Victorian children would have enjoyed.
Victorian children enjoyed making up puppet shows so we had a go at our own.
And at the end of the day we enjoyed sharing all of this with our parents!
I must take this opportunity to say a HUGE thank you to the team of people who made this event possible- staff, parents, sisters and our Year 6 pupils too!
It finally remains for me to wish you all a very Happy Christmas. Thank you for your continued support through out the term and looking forward to seeing you all in 2017!
