iSing Pop!

What a fun week it has been in school this week!!  iSing Pop has helped us learn 7 new songs, which are linked to our school values, in the most fun way possible!! It has been such a pleasure to see everybody totally singing their hearts, boy, girls and adults too!  Here are a few snaps before our big concerts today.

The dancing and singing has been infectious throughout the school all week.  Year 2 could not help but join in when they could hear the music during PE...

In between rehearsals, we have come to the end of our instructions unit so all children have written their final warm piece of writing.  I am so impressed with the progress and improvement in just a couple of weeks so well done to everybody.  But a special 'Well Done' must go to our wonderful writers this week: Maya, Louie, Jack, Edward, Eva, Florence and Oliver.

I am looking forward to seeing lots of you at our concerts this afternoon and this evening.  I am sure it will be a fabulous start to your weekend!

Week 2 in Class 3!

It has been a busy and VERY hot week in Class 3 this week.  We have been creating our own ideas to trap the creature that we saw last week.  We have been using the 'Talk for Writing' approach to help us learn a set of instructions before we write our own set later on in the week. Here are Class 3 in action...

Class 3 have been enjoying PE on a Tuesday with Colchester United and have been developing their football skills.  Here they are in action again.....

On Friday there was purposeful mess spread throughout Class 3 as children got creative in their RE learning with Mrs Allen.  Over the term, we shall be learning about worship in different religions.  Starting with Christianity, the children are working as a team to create a model of a church with all the necessary things inside that are needed for Christians to carry out worship.  As this is work in progress, photos will follow next week and it is already looking great!

We are beginning to settle in to the routines of Class 3 so all children should have brought home their first piece of maths home learning and spellings.  A few pieces of information which may be helpful:

Maths home learning - will be given each week.  Page numbers are in the front of the book.  Please can it be back in school by a Thursday so I have seen it by a Friday when the next piece will be set.  Please do mark it with your children if you wish, the answers are included at the back of the book.

Spellings- these are the words for the half term and are based on the new curriculum expectations for each year group.  The common exception words need to be practised and learnt at home over the half term please.  I have also included the patterns we shall be learning at school and any extra support with this at home will always be beneficial.

Creative home learning -  will be given later on in the term.

Reading Books - All children should have brought home a reading book.  Please do change books with your children after school and please don't hesitate in coming to speak to me about your children's reading books if you feel the challenge isn't quite right.

Active learn website - All children have now been allocated bug club books, abacus maths games and grammar games too.  The maths and grammar games support and consolidate our learning in class so are extremely beneficial to children's learning.  Please speak to me if you are having problems with the website, username or password.

Finally, it just remains for me to wish you all a happy restful weekend and look forward to iSing Pop next week which proves to be an excellent experience for all involved.

Welcome to Class 3!

Welcome to Class 3 and what a great first week back we have had! It has been lovely to see everyone come back after the holidays smiling and ready to learn!  We have had a very busy week already, here are some of the things we have been up to.

Our theme this term is Crime and Punishment!

In maths this week we have been detectives trying to solve problems.  To help us with reading numbers in digits and words we had to match bags of evidence.

We looked at our fingerprints and talked about how they are all totally unique to every person.  We enjoyed using our fingerprints to create some art!

We have also managed to fit in lots of wonderful writing this week!  We have written description of different robbers form the book 'Cops and Robbers' and written eyewitness reports about a very strange creature we saw on the loose!

I really have been so impressed with how hard everybody has worked this week.  This was a very hard decision this week but we do have our very first 'Wonderful Writers' for Class 3 so a special Well done must go to: Fraser, Nina, Chantel, Lily-Mae, Jude, Aiden and Elise.

WELL DONE again class 3 for making our first week together so enjoyable, you have been brilliant!!  I look forward to seeing you on Monday all ready and raring to go for another week ahead.  We are going to be thinking about how we can catch that strange creature....perhaps you could have a think over the weekend?!

Maths homework and spellings will come start coming home next week.

Have a lovely weekend all,

Mrs McMillan
