Making Pheasant Traps and Studying the Vitruvian Man

In our final full week in Class 3 we have been making pheasant traps linked to learning from Danny Champion of the World (Roald Dahl).  The children came up with some amazingly creative ideas and such variety.  See the pictures below.

This morning we had a maths related morning testing Leonardo Da Vinci's theories about the 'Vitruvian Man'.  We found that the girls fitted the theories best but all of us found that from the bottom of our knee to the bottom of our feet was a quarter of our height.

Other ones to try-  length of your foot x 7 = height
top of head to chin x 8 = height

I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching all of your wonderful children over the last 7 months and wish them and you all well next year and beyond.

Have a great summer!

Mr. Wainwright

  1. Sounds intriguing!

Mr Wainwright, thank you so much for your passion and care and honest interest in our children's development. Our team wish you well, but we have a sneaky suspicion you're not going to need it. You've got this teaching lark down.

We're any pheasants harmed in your investigations?!

    Much love

Evie-May really enjoyed the activities on Friday. She had a fantastic time out on the playground learning the maths theories. Did you know that your foot is as big as your arm from your elbow to your wrist?

Thank you for all that you have done for Evie-May both academically and emotionally. I am confident that she has some essential tools to continue to grow as she continues her journey at Fordham All Saints. We wish you well in your new job, we know that the children will love you. Please come back to see the girls, I know that they would like that very much.
